Terms-and-conditions
Note: This English translation is provisional, and the Japanese version takes precedence.
(Purpose)
Article 1
- These Terms-and conditions (hereinafter referred to as "these Terms") establish the obligations to be observed by those who have agreed to these Terms and completed the registration to participate in the "Inochi Forum Supported by Decidim" (hereinafter referred to as "this Platform") operated by the Osaka University "Inochi Forum" (hereinafter referred to as "the Forum") and related services (hereinafter referred to as "the Services").
- These Terms stipulate the conditions for the use of all services provided on this Platform. By using the Services, the user (hereinafter referred to as "User") is deemed to have agreed to all provisions of these Terms.
(Definitions)
Article 2 The definitions of the terms used in these Terms are as follows:
(1) The Secretariat refers to the Forum and the specified non-profit organization Code for OSAKA.
(2) Registered Email Address refers to the email address registered by the User on the Platform for the purpose of using the Services.
(3) Password refers to the unique code set by the User corresponding to the registered email address.
(4) Post refers to the act of uploading information by the User to the Platform.
(Changes to these Terms)
Article 3
- The Secretariat may change these Terms without prior notice as necessary.
- The revised Terms shall take effect when displayed on the Platform unless otherwise stipulated by the Secretariat.
- After the revised Terms take effect, Users are deemed to have agreed to all provisions of the revised Terms by continuing to use the Services.
(Handling of Personal Information)
Article 4 The handling of personal information of Users will be conducted appropriately in accordance with Articles 10 and 11 of these Terms.
(Participation Registration)
Article 5
- Persons wishing to use the Services must agree to the content of these Terms and complete the registration process to participate.
- At the time of registration, the User shall submit the necessary information, such as name and email address, in the manner prescribed by the Platform.
- The Secretariat will approve the registration unless it determines that it is inappropriate due to the reasons set forth in Article 6, Section 2 or other reasons. Registration is deemed complete upon the transmission of a confirmation email by the Secretariat.
- The Secretariat reserves the right to interrupt or invalidate the registration process without prior notice or consent from the registering party if deemed necessary. The Secretariat is not responsible for any damages (including damages to third parties) arising from this action.
- If there is a change in the registered data, the User must promptly update the information.
(Withdrawal and Cancellation of Registration)
Article 6
- If a User wishes to withdraw from the Services, they must complete the withdrawal procedure in the prescribed manner.
- The Secretariat may cancel the registration or temporarily suspend the Services if the User engages in any of the following actions:
(1) If the registered email address is nonexistent or false.
(2) If the User does not log in for a certain period.
(3) If the User violates these Terms.
(4) If the Secretariat determines that the User's behavior is otherwise inappropriate. - The Secretariat is not obligated to cancel registration and is not liable for any actions it does or does not take regarding cancellation or suspension of services.
(Management of Registered Email Address and Password)
Article 7
- The User must register a valid email address under their control and promptly update the registration if that email address changes.
- The User is responsible for preventing unauthorized use of their registered email address and password.
- The Secretariat is not responsible for any damages arising from the use of the User’s registered email address or password by third parties.
- If a User’s email address or password is misused, the User must promptly report this to the Secretariat and follow the Secretariat’s instructions, though the Secretariat will not be held responsible.
(Maintenance of Usage Environment)
Article 8
- The User is responsible for maintaining all necessary devices, software, and communication means required to use the Services.
- The User must take appropriate security measures, such as virus prevention and preventing unauthorized access.
- The Secretariat is not involved in the User’s usage environment and bears no responsibility.
(Prohibited Acts)
Article 9 Users are prohibited from the following acts while using the Services:
(1) Violating laws or public order and morals.
(2) Engaging in criminal activities.
(3) Destroying or interfering with the servers or networks of the Secretariat, other Users, or third parties.
(4) Impeding the operation of the Services.
(5) Collecting or storing personal information of other Users.
(6) Unauthorized access or attempts thereof.
(7) Impersonating other Users.
(8) Providing benefits to anti-social forces.
(9) Infringing on intellectual property rights, privacy, honor, or other rights and interests of the Secretariat, other Users, or third parties.
(10) Posting or sending content deemed inappropriate by the Secretariat.
(11) Other acts that the Office deems inappropriate.
(Acquisition of Information on the Platform)
Article 10
- The Secretariat may acquire the following User data by lawful and fair means:
(1) User Information for the Services: Display name, email address, account ID.
(2) Information Automatically Acquired through Web Access: Cookies, device information, IP address, etc.
(3) Personal Information from Inquiries:Name, contact information, inquiry history. - The privacy policies of the Forum and Code for OSAKA apply to this.

- Cookies that are mechanically obtained by accessing this service's website can be deleted or their use rejected by changing the settings of the browser used by the user.Please note that in such cases, the service may not function properly.Please refer to your browser's settings menu or help menu for specific instructions on how to set cookies, etc.
- Action logs that are mechanically obtained by accessing the Service's website can be rejected by setting your browser to reject cookies.
- Cookies and action logs obtained by accessing the Service's website may be linked to information registered in connection with the use of the Service, and may be used to identify the individual concerned.
- The Secretariat uses the following information collection module to obtain the information specified in Article1 2. of this Article.The information collection module collects information on the use of the Service in a form that does not identify individuals, and such information is not used to identify users.

(Purpose of Use of Information)
Article 11
- The Secretariat will use User data obtained under Article 10 only within the scope of the following purposes:
(1) Authentication during login.
(2) Analysis for improving the Services.
(3) Notifications to Users.
(4) Analysis of Service usage.
(5) Maintenance and troubleshooting of the Services.
(6) Responding to inquiries. - Data created by the Secretariat through analysis is owned by the Secretariat.
- The Secretariat may delegate operations to third parties and disclose User data to them.
(Changes to the Services)
Article 12 The Secretariat reserves the right to add, change, interrupt, or terminate the Services without prior notice to the Users.
(Intellectual Property Rights)
Article 13
- Any information posted by Users on the Platform (including concepts and know-how) is considered public domain unless otherwise protected by rights established by the User, and third parties may freely use it without charge.
- Users agree not to exercise moral rights of authorship for the information they post.
(Deletion of Posted Information)
Article 14
- The Secretariat reserves the right to change or delete any posted information on the Platform without the consent of the User if it determines that the content falls under the following categories:
(1) Violates these Terms.
(2) Violates or potentially violates laws.
(3) Is otherwise deemed inappropriate by the Secretariat. - The Secretariat is not obligated to change or delete posted information and is not liable for any actions taken or not taken in this regard.
(Communication with Users)
Article 15 The Secretariat may contact Users by email regarding any violation of these Terms or other issues related to the Services.
(Disclaimer)
Article 16
- Users are responsible for their use of the Services and all actions and results arising from their use of the Services.
- The contents of the Platform may be changed without notice, and the information on the Platform may not always be up to date. The Secretariat is not responsible for any actions taken based on the information available on the Platform.
- Users are responsible for any information they post on the Platform. The Secretariat assumes no liability for the legality, morality, reliability, or accuracy of the information posted by Users.
- Users must resolve any disputes arising from infringing upon the rights of others at their own responsibility and expense, without holding the Secretariat liable.
- If the Secretariat incurs any expenses due to such disputes, the User will bear all costs.
- The Secretariat is not responsible for any damages arising from changes or interruptions to the Services.
- The User agrees in advance that the Secretariat is not liable for the following:
(1) Damages resulting from the use or inability to use the Services.
(2) Damages arising from changes or interruptions to the Services.
(3) Damages related to posted information.
(4) Damages related to disputes between Users.
(5) Other damages related to the use of the Services.
(Governing Law and Jurisdiction)
Article 17
- These Terms and the use of the Services shall be governed by the laws of Japan.
- In the event of any disputes, the Osaka District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance.
(Supplementary Provisions)
These Terms will be enforced from September 1, 2023.
